SAS earned two prestigious accolades at The Aviation Challenge (TAC) 2024, hosted by SkyTeam
As part of the Best Scaled FlightOps Solution, AVTECH’s In-Flight Optimization services helped SAS reduce CO₂ emissions by almost 20% per passenger on a milestone flight from Copenhagen to Los Angeles. This flight commemorated the 70th anniversary of SAS’s historic North Pole route, which has been instrumental in lowering fuel consumption and emissions.
The TAC 2024 event, which spotlighted sustainability innovations from SkyTeam airlines, saw over 300 pioneering solutions submitted.
David Rytter, CEO of AVTECH, comments: “SAS’s victories underscore their commitment to sustainable aviation, and we are proud that AVTECH’s technology plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and reducing CO₂ emissions. Together, we are advancing the aviation industry toward a greener future.”
Additionally, AVTECH played a key role in TUI’s success, which was shortlisted as one of the top three contenders in the same category.
Over a specified two-week period, participating airlines operate short-, medium and long-haul round-trip flights that are already part of their networks with the aim to making them as sustainable as possible.
Awards for airlines include operating flights with the lowest CO2 emissions, achieving the greatest CO2 reduction (compared to their baseline), the lowest CO2 emissions for ground handling operations and waste reduction. Other awards celebrate airlines that push the boundaries of sustainability through innovation and those making sustainability a part of their daily operations at greater scale, making progress through industry collaboration.
